This afternoon the Choir paid tribute at the funeral of our dear friend, Jim McAllister, who died last week just a few weeks away from his 90th birthday. Having joined the choir 29 years ago, Jim was the longest serving member of the Choir. He played a key role in authoring our current constitution, served as Treasurer and became a Life Vice President of the Choir. We are deeply indebted to Jim for all that he contributed to the choir, enabling us to become what we are today. He was a true gentleman, respected and held in deep affection by all. And … relax! BMVC has now completed a hectic schedule of 18 engagements and 30 rehearsals since September and takes a well deserved break over Christmas. Last Saturday evening saw the much anticipated concert at Sacred Heart, where we performed in front of a very welcoming and appreciative audience. The Choir had never performed at the venue before, which given its spectacular interior and acoustic is a travesty! We’re counting down the days to our next concert at Sacred Heart in the centre of Bournemouth on Saturday 15th December at 7.30pm Musical Director, Mark Burstow, comments on the rich variety of the programme: ‘Out of the eight items in the first half for example – five are contemporary, original compositions for men’s choirs. 90th Season Celebrations

We are now a little over a week away from our next performance on Saturday 15th September on the Bournemouth Town Hall steps, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the first performance by the Choir, in 1912 (pictured). The Choir will be presented with a commemorative certificate by the Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Phil Stanley-Watts, who will then be offering a reception to our members.
