Great experiences, new venues, new friends

IMG_0321Being a member of Bournemouth Male Voice Choir is full of powerful experiences and lots of positive emotions.

Yesterday we met at central Bournemouth and took a coach off into the depths of Dorset to give a Concert at Tyneham Church.  It was an amazing evening – the church absolutely stuffed to capacity the choir uber-vibrant and full of good music. An historic event 70 years on (to the week) from the evacuation of Tyneham and the occasion, the poetry and music stirred up many differing feelings;  laughter, poignancy and nostalgia chief amongst them.   A privilege to take part in the event – thanks to Lt Col Ken Davies for his perfect organisation of the event – the phrase military precision comes to mind!

There being no rest for the wicked, we got in around midnight and met again at 11.15 at St. Mark’s Parish Church, Talbot Woods. for a quick rehearsal IMG_0787and then singing at the wedding of Carly and Dafydd.  The happy couple selected some Elton John, a bit of  Take That and a spot of Elvis Costello today – we are nothing if not diverse and stepping outside our comfort zone into this repertoire is good for our music making!  Such a privilege to take part in the first step on this young couples married lives.

Then on Monday the Chairman and the Musical Director will be speaking with Julian Clegg on his BBC Radio Solent programme. They will be talking about #Learn2Sing.  The MD has press-ganged twelve singers from the choir to join him in the studio for two live Christmas Carol performances too.  We are live at about 7.30 am and again at at about 8:30.

As one of the choir wives said on Friday, you get some great opportunities as a member of Bournemouth Male Voice Choir – do you or one of your friends fancy coming on board?
