Summer holiday

The 2012/2013 season came to an end on Sunday past with our final gig at the RNLI fun day at Mudeford. The choir gave a set of popular tunes in the open air to a large and appreciative audience. We even got two new recruits to boot! Rehearsals start back, usual place and time, on Tuesday 3rd September 2013. Have a great summer, hope to see you during the Autumn...

Quadruple Success

What a truly magnificent weekend at the Bangor International Choral Festival! The Choir celebrated a spectacular quartet of successes, winning first prize in both the Best Visiting Choir and Sacred Music categories and was runner up in the Male Voice Choir and Light Entertainment categories. The adjudicators praised the choir for its ‘energy, spirit, passion, intensity and swagger’ and commented ‘what a great journey you took us on, thank you!’ We received fantastic support throughout from our traveling supporters as well as all the new friends we made in Northern Ireland. We’ll keep you posted via our Facebook page and will sincerely try and bring back the same number of choristers that we take! The choir will sing music from every genre imaginable, has a few surprises on the …… choreography front...

Much anticipation in the ranks of Bournemouth Male Voice Choir at the moment.  We have concerts in Bournemouth and Salisbury over the next few weeks; we are looking forward to sharing the stage with the St John Singers of Salisbury, (in Salisbury),  the Penzance Ladies Choir in Westbourne and Vintage Brass at Southbourne. But, it is nail-biting time as the choir travels to Bangor (County Down not North Wales!) for the 20th Bangor International Choral Festival.  Set in the beautiful seaside town of Bangor, just 15 miles from Belfast, this highly successful Festival offers classes in...

New Romantics?

Things Contemporary and Romantic were the focus of our attention this week as rehearsals have resumed.  We have hit the ground running; new music by contemporary American composers Jeffrey Horvath and Timothy Takach together with Franz’s Schubert’s delicious “La Pastorella” were the focus of our attention this week.   Still in the “new world” we brushed up Eric Whitacre‘s lovely “Seal Lullaby” and then looked in some detail at the lucious “Beati Mortui” by Felix Mendelssohn.  Very satisfying and some really good...
