Fundraising Success

Many thanks to all of you who came to support us at Castlepoint Shopping Centre on Saturday as we performed to fundraise for the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal. We’re delighted to announce that our 30 minute performance managed to raise £200 for the cause and a cheque will be on its way to the Appeal on Monday! We were heartened by the warm reaction of the crowd on a chilly evening and hope very much to return to Castlepoint for a repeat performance very...

Choir at Castlepoint for Charity!

On Saturday 23rd November at 5pm the choir will sing at Castlepoint Shopping Centre and fundraise for the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal. Typhoon Haiyan was 300 miles across when it struck the Philippines on the 8th of November and one of the most intense tropical storms to ever make landfall anywhere in the world. Jim McAllister

This afternoon the Choir paid tribute at the funeral of our dear friend, Jim McAllister, who died last week just a few weeks away from his 90th birthday. We are deeply indebted to Jim for all that he contributed to the choir, enabling us to become what we are today. He was a true gentleman, respected and held in deep affection by all. We will always remember his warmth, humour,...

We were then invited to perform at the benediction for the recently re-opened Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart in the town centre. The church stonework had been thoroughly cleaned...

Turning Japanese

Unlike the 1980’s one hit wonder The Vapours we aren’t singing pop songs about Japan but actually started learning a new item this week that is in Japanese! “Furasato” was given to us by our friends in the Chor Leoni Men’s Choir from Vancouver and the choir pretty much cracked it at sight. That, combined with a successful read through “MLK” by U2 and welcoming two new members to the choir all went together to make a fairly successful start to the 2013/2014 season. Our first gig is at Bournemouth School for Girls on 21st September and that kicks off a...
