No Rehearsal this evening (18th September 2012)

Just a quick post to let everyone know that the choir will not be meeting for a rehearsal this evening.  We are giving a concert in The Barrington Theatre, Ferndown.  We are looking forward to returning to this excellent venue. The Theatre has a large proscenium arch stage, with excellent lighting and sound facilities which are enjoyed by professional and amateur companies. Audiences are offered year round varied entertainment from concerts, classic plays and rock bands, to large-scale musicals at affordable ticket prices. Kicking off the celebrations in style

Members of the choir met in the grounds of Bournemouth Town Hall last evening (15th September 2012) to recreate the first performance of the choir; the members marked the events of 90 years ago to sing for the Mayor on the Town Hall steps. The Mayor of Bournemouth gave the choir with a certificate to mark their work in the community over the years and made a special presentation of his long service award to Brian Miles, former choir secretary and now Tours and Special Events Manager. The Bournemouth Daily Echo has today published another piece abut the Choir and its 90th anniversary celebration event at the Town Hall on Saturday 15th September. You can read the article here. All preparations have now been finalised and we’re really looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible! Fastest Chorister on Two Wheels

On September 8th 2012 choir bass Steve Blowers took part in a 200Km Pro Ride that followed the route of the first stage of this years Tour of Britain cycle race. This was fully supported ride giving riders the chance to experience the same conditions as the professional Tour riders. 90th Season Celebrations

We are now a little over a week away from our next performance on Saturday 15th September on the Bournemouth Town Hall steps, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the first performance by the Choir, in 1912 (pictured). The Choir will be presented with a commemorative certificate by the Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Phil Stanley-Watts, who will then be offering a reception to our members.
