This morning’s Bournemouth Daily Echo reports yet another victory for the men of Bournemouth’s biggest boy band.  Some would argue that is an even more important win than that at the Brighton International Competition.  (We would suggest they should collect their anorak and leave the room though …..) Rob Phillips, our Finance Manager, is a leading figure in the charity Chesthelp and it has become a bit of a tradition for the choir to submit a team or two at their Annual Quiz and Fish and Chip Evening.   Chesthelp Bournemouth is a local Registered Charity founded in 1947...

Despite the Musical Director’s whining about having flu’, on Friday 6 October, we piled into the finest Laguna Coaches Double Decker at headed eastward for our first competition in some time.  The plan for the weekend was to give the members some time together after a hectic year so far.  Relaxations was the plan with a little gentle singing in between…….. The members of Bournemouth Male Voice Choir had a fabulous evening in the beautiful surroundings of St. Stephen’s Church in Bournemouth.  This architectural gem, situated in central Bournemouth is described by Rt. Revd. Michael Scott-Joynt, Bishop of Winchester thus “For over a century, Musical Excellence has been a tradition at St. Stephen’s and is a marvellous source of inspiration, spiritual refreshment and enjoyment”.  Quite a venue for a concert! At our recent Annual General meeting, our Development Manager, Malcolm Jenkins, had the pleasure of presenting David Hughes of our First tenor section with this Silver Award.  The Silver Award denotes 20 years continuous membership of the choir.  David served as Treasurer for many years and is a loyal and conscientious servant of the choir!
