Brian MilesBrian grew up in North London within the sound of Bow Bells thus a London Cockney was confirmed in Westminster Abbey and joined the Post Office as a Messenger in 1955. He made the move to Post Office Counters and eventually became the Facilities Manager to Post Office Headquarters arranging a major move of the Headquarters from St Martin’s le Grande, London to Grosvenor Place. He has been very involved with youth work, playing cricket and badminton coaching being a Middlesex Badminton Club Coach. During this time he was fortunate to have his name put forward for an MBE which did not transpire.

He took early retirement in 1990 at the age of 50 and moved to Dorset in July 1996 with his wife, Pat.

Having sung from the early age of 8 in a school choir, Brian had 17 years of choral singing with the C of E and 41 with the Methodist Church. During this time he was fortunate to have sung in Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, in St Paul’s Cathedral also Methodist Central Hall and then with the Bournemouth Male Voice Choir in the Royal Albert Hall, Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Arms Park.

Brian has been a member of the Choir since September 1996, became its Secretary in May 1997 and Vice President in 2014.

In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, walking, listening to music and watching cricket, rugby and football.
