Back on the competition platform

bangor-international-choral-festival-logoMuch anticipation in the ranks of Bournemouth Male Voice Choir at the moment.  We have concerts in Bournemouth and Salisbury over the next few weeks; we are looking forward to sharing the stage with the St John Singers of Salisbury, (in Salisbury),  the Penzance Ladies Choir in Westbourne and Vintage Brass at Southbourne.

But, it is nail-biting time as the choir travels to Bangor (County Down not North Wales!) for the 20th Bangor International Choral Festival.  Set in the beautiful seaside town of Bangor, just 15 miles from Belfast, this highly successful Festival offers classes in Youth, Mixed, Ladies and Male Voice Choirs, Ladies and Mens’ Barbershop, plus Madrigal, Sacred and Light Entertainment Sections, all of which offer substantial prizes, with the Open Choral Competition offering a top prize of £1000!

But……. the competition is always very stiff so we’ll have to get down to polishing up some of the dots for this really important weekend.  The choir will sing at the Festival Concert on Friday 26th April and then compete in four classes on Saturday 27th April.

The choir will sing a wide range of music in the classes including original motets and part-songs by Felix Mendelssohn, Eric Whitacre, Rosephanye Powell, Francis Poulenc as well as commissioned arrangements and some surprises on stage.

Looking forward to the fun and friendship but knowing some of the fine choirs that we will share the stage with – some butterflies too!  🙂
