Unlike the 1980’s one hit wonder The Vapours we aren’t singing pop songs about Japan but actually started learning a new item this week that is in Japanese! “Furasato” was given to us by our friends in the Chor Leoni Men’s Choir from Vancouver and the choir pretty much cracked it at sight. That, combined with a successful read through “MLK” by U2 and welcoming two new members to the choir all went together to make a fairly successful start to the 2013/2014 season. The boys are back in town

No Thin Lizzy tonight but the new season’s first rehearsal of Bournemouth’s Choir for Men will have a mind boggling range of music on display The choir hits the ground running tonight with music by Morten Lauridsen, Seal, U2, Poulenc and traditional folk song. The Autumn term will see a European premier of a new work by Canadian composer Stephen Smith as well as music by Gabriel Faure, Franz Schubert and tunes from the musical Rent. Summer holiday

The 2012/2013 season came to an end on Sunday past with our final gig at the RNLI fun day at Mudeford. The choir gave a set of popular tunes in the open air to a large and appreciative audience. And we’re off…

  The choir heads off on a jolly on Friday;  heading towards the blue skies of Northern Ireland for a weekend of fun, frolics and making new friendships. We will compete, give a concert with the excellent Bangor Ladies Choir, visit Belfast City Hall and have a touristy visit to Mount Stewart (a gorgeous National Trust property in Co. Down). We’ll keep you posted via our Facebook page and will sincerely try and bring back the same number of choristers that we take! Much anticipation in the ranks of Bournemouth Male Voice Choir at the moment.  We have concerts in Bournemouth and Salisbury over the next few weeks; we are looking forward to sharing the stage with the St John Singers of Salisbury, (in Salisbury),  the Penzance Ladies Choir in Westbourne and Vintage Brass at Southbourne.
