Following the sell-out success of One Moment In Time, BMVC have recorded a brand new set of songs reflecting the choir’s increasingly challenging repertoire. Sing For Your Life covers a diverse range of music from hymns and traditional choral pieces to classic popular songs and the effervescent title track, with its references to the internet and mobile phones.
Recorded by Matt Watkins of Spire Records, and with a cover design by Dick Vardy, Sing For Your Life features several of the choir’s concert favourites, including the rousing African Prayer, the lovely Beati Mortui (one of eight unaccompanied tracks on the CD) and the showstopping Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue. Also included is Brian Munday’s solo version of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, a reprise of his prize-winning performance at the 2009 Larne Music Festival.
The CD was launched on 28th November 2009 at the choir’s annual concert, when our special guest performer was Matthew Ibbotson, a London-based professional tenor who sang in Only Men Aloud! (the winning choir in the BBC’s Last Choir Standing) and who is a member of Serendipity and the BBC National Chorus of Wales.
For those who weren’t able to make that concert, the CD will be available at future concerts,
